West Palm Beach's home for Cretan culture, dance, music, and community since 1980.
Founded in April 1980, the Cretan Association of West Palm Beach has spent more than four decades keeping the spirit of Crete alive along Florida's southeastern coast. Known locally as Cretan Voice, the association was built on a belief that culture travels with its people, and that the traditions of Crete, including its music, dance, cuisine, and deep sense of hospitality, deserve a permanent home in West Palm Beach.
The association draws members together around shared values: Cretan ethics, philanthropy, and a genuine commitment to passing these traditions on to younger generations. Youth engagement sits at the center of everything the organization does, from dance workshops that teach the steps of traditional Cretan dances to community events that bring families together around shared heritage.
This is not a passive archive of culture. Cretan Voice is an active, working organization that hosts district conferences, PAA board meetings, and major national gatherings, including the PAA National Convention coming in June 2025. If you have roots in Crete or simply want to connect with a community that takes culture seriously, this is where that conversation starts.
The Cretan Association of West Palm Beach offers a range of activities and events that keep Cretan heritage living and breathing in South Florida. Dance workshops give participants hands-on instruction in traditional Cretan dance forms, connecting movement to centuries of island culture. These workshops welcome both experienced dancers and complete beginners.
Beyond dance, the association serves as a regional hub for organized Greek-American community life. It hosts PAA board meetings and district conferences, making it a meaningful gathering point for leaders and members across the broader Panhellenic community. The June 2025 PAA National Convention will bring this work to a national stage, with West Palm Beach as the host city.
At its core, the association promotes Cretan hospitality in its fullest sense: warmth, generosity, cultural pride, and a commitment to community. Whether you are exploring your heritage for the first time or have been part of Cretan cultural life for years, the association's programming offers something genuine and rooted.
